The scriptures have a lot to say about vineyard mismanagement. God pours out abundant blessings on his people, but with blessings come responsibilities. In other words, God expects us to produce much fruit. Down through history people have done a great job of managing the vineyard and others nos so great. Now is our turn to manage the vineyard. OUR CHOIR'S FAREWELL ANTHEM WITH JANE WHITECOTTON

We were shorthanded as far as available  videographers go today, but I managed to film our choir's anthem from my seat behind the pulpit. This was a special anthem, the last time Jane Whitecotton will direct our choir as our organist/choir director. We will miss her dearly. Jane is heading north to Ashland to live near her daughter and grandkids. May God go with you, Jane. We love you.

A HEART-HEALTHY DIET

One of the most powerful teaching of the New Testament comes from Matthew 15 when Jesus told his disciples that what goes in to a person come back out. He used physical food as an example, but his focus was on spiritual food. Garbage in--garbage out  vs. good things in--good things out.

A WISE PURCHASE

How important is wisdom and knowledge in making the right decisions in life. The scriptures teach that discernment is of upmost importance. STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN

Back in the 70s the rock band Led Zeppelin had a big hit called Stairway to Heaven. The lyrics of the song talked about a lady who was attempting to buy this "stairway." She was convinced that all that glitters is gold. Fortune and fame in this world can open a lot of doors, but I'm sorry, you can't buy the stairway to heaven. Jacob found that out in Genesis 28 when he had a vision of a stairway leading up to heaven. Check out today's worship videos from the Colerain Presbyterian Church:

PUT DOWN THAT SACK OF POTATOES

Jesus said, "Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Those who hear the Lord speak these words are at a crossroads. As they have traveled the road of life, the burdens have piled up on their shoulders. But now their spiritual ears have heard the cals of Jesus and a decision must be made: the decision to let the Lord lift those burdens and move in a new direction--the direction of God's kingdom. BETWEEN CALVARY TO PENTECOST

Between Calvary and Pentecost the disciples waited and wondered. What was this "Spirit" Jesus promised to send? This Comforter, this Advocate, this Teacher, this one who would give strength, encouragement, and power to bring the message of God's love and light into the world. Jesus promised not to leave them as orphans but rather to clothe them with power from on high. This same promise is for us. Check out today's worship videos:

FROM TRIUMPH TO TRIAL

After triumphantly entering Jerusalem on the back of a donkey as prophesied by Zechariah, Jesus faced the final days before the cross. After his arrest on trumped up charges, he was brought before Pilate. Knowing Jesus was innocent, Pilate asked an important question: What should I do with Jesus who is called the Christ? All of us must answer that questions. Check out our worship videos from the Palm Sunday worship service.

THE LIFE-GIVING SPIRIT

Them bones, them bones, them dry bones. Remember that tune from your Sunday school days? The prophet Ezekiel learned a great lesson about the power of God's Spirit to bring to life people who have given up hope, people who have sunken into the depths of despair. His message to the Israelites was that the Spirit is very and has the power to raise you to life and lead you home. Check out today's worship videos from the Colrain Presbyterian Church.

What does God have to do to get our attention? A burning bush? Lightning and thunder with loud voice telling us to "Listen!" BUILT TO LAST

Everyone must build his or her life on some foundation. Some think drugs, sex, and rock and roll is the way to go. Other trust in science. Still others embrace a political philosophy. Many people say "I'm the foundation--Me, Myself, I--I'll rise and fall on what I do in this life." What foundation will last through this life into eternity. If God is the building inspector,  what foundation will make it through God's test of fire? Only one. Check out today's videos from our worship service:

A LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS

Jesus began his preaching ministry in one of the spiritually darkest regions of the Mideast--the Galilee of the Gentiles. This was a land of diverse, ethnically impure, working-class people. But this is where the great light of the gospel shone the brightest, and the message of God's power to transform lives took flight.

A NEW START FOR THE NEW YEAR

Have you ever found yourself in the middle of a mess. Perhaps you made some mistakes or bad decisions. Possibly circumstances over which you had no control brought about the upheaval. Whatever the cause.  you felt like giving up and somehow crawling out of the wreckage and starting over. The good news of the gospel is that God gives us new beginnings. As 2014 begins, God wants to lead you and me in the direction of God's will with new purpose and insight and motivation.

A MESSAGE FROM JANE WHITECOTTON

Christmas Season is now a thing of the Past. But each Christmas season
brings a chance for new memories to be made.
My new memory from this past Christmas Season comes from the Choir.

All the members worked so hard to bring "The Christmas Story" alive. We
were blessed to have volunteers "jump in" when sorely needed (read Bill
Nagel). Other volunteers helped out also.

Thank you Choir for your dedication to the Lord at Colerain Presbyterian
Church.

Bringing the "Story" alive also requires actors and this congregation is
so willing to share.A big Thank You to each one.
Thank you to Pastor Joe for being our Narrator.

Of course, any production needs "behind the scenes" people and once
again we have such willing helpers.

It takes a lot of people to bring you this wonderful story and I thank
each and every one.God Bless you All.

Blessing,
Jane

CHOSEN AND UNFROZEN
